Ed Brakeman is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in nonprofit impact investing and advisory roles. Currently serving as Director of Umsizi Fund since 2013, Brakeman contributes to the development of global leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. As a member of the US Advisory Council for African Leadership Academy, Brakeman helps identify and nurture young leaders across Africa. Brakeman's previous roles include Managing Director (Retired) at Bain Capital, Loan Committee Advisor at MCE Social Capital, and Advisory Board member at Social Finance, Inc. Additionally, Brakeman has held positions on the boards of various organizations, including the African Leadership Foundation and the Marine Biological Laboratory. Brakeman holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a B.S. with Highest Honors in Business from the University of California, Berkeley.
