Tony Jan

Tony Jan is a highly experienced academic leader currently serving as Professor and Director of the AI Research Centre at Torrens University Australia since August 2021. With a strong focus on curriculum innovation, Tony has successfully launched four industry-driven ICT programs, resulting in over 2,000 enrolments and generating an annual revenue exceeding $30 million. Previously, Tony held the position of Associate Professor and Associate Head of the School of IT and Engineering at Melbourne Institute of Technology, managing a team of 60 lecturers and over 1,600 computing students across multiple campuses. With a solid foundation in academia, Tony has also served as Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of the Department of Computing Science at UTS, leading academic operations for more than 900 students and overseeing the successful accreditation of key programs. Additionally, Tony has extensive consultancy experience, having developed over 19 higher education courses across Australia. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Technology Sydney and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Honours) from The University of Western Australia.
