Naveen Kuppuswamy is a seasoned robotics researcher with a significant focus on manipulation, tactile perception, and soft-robotics. Currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist and Robot Data Lead at the Toyota Research Institute since January 2020, Kuppuswamy has led research initiatives in these domains. Prior to this role, Kuppuswamy was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Zurich and a PhD Student, contributing to various research areas including underwater robotics and control through dimensionality reduction. Additional experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, concentrating on state estimation methods and human dynamics, and a role as a Research Engineer at Yujin Robot, focusing on service robot middleware and human-robot interaction. Kuppuswamy holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Zurich and an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
