Monika Sitko

Head Of Planning And Technical Coordination at Transmutex SA

Monika Sitko, PhD, PMP has a diverse and extensive work experience in project management and engineering.

Starting in 2023, they worked as a Project Planner at TRANSMUTEX. Prior to that, from 2022 to 2022, they worked as a Project Manager at Absolut System. In this role, they managed technical, administrative, and financial activities for both subsidized and commercial projects involving the design and manufacturing of cryogenic systems for various industries. Monika was responsible for supporting the preparation of commercial proposals, communicating with external collaborators and customers, and providing internal reporting.

From 2015 to 2020, Monika worked at CERN, where they held various roles including Project Manager, R&D Engineer, and Simulation and Material Expert. Monika managed an R&D project focused on laser surface treatment and minimized electron reflection. This involved coordinating a multinational team, defining project scope and deliverables, managing budget and schedule, and collaborating with subcontractors. Additionally, they were responsible for material engineering and managing the product lifecycle of complex mechanical components for ultra-high vacuum and cryogenic systems.

Prior to CERN, Monika served as a Senior Research Fellow and Electro-mechanical R&D Engineer at the University of Southampton in 2014. Here, they conducted development and thermo-hydraulic simulations of heat exchangers for superconducting power devices and performed electrical testing of critical parameters.

From 2011 to 2014, Monika worked as a Senior Fellow and Electro-mechanical R&D Engineer at CERN. In this role, they conducted thermo-electrical and CFD simulations of heat exchangers, planned and performed electrical measurements of superconducting wires and cables, and conducted experimental investigations on the effects of mechanical deformations on superconductors' critical current.

Prior to their work at CERN, Monika was a Simulation Expert and Consultant at GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research from 2008 to 2010. Monika also worked as an R&D Department Assistant and Mechanical Engineer at Valeo, where they conducted structural, thermal, and CFD simulations of car radiators and prepared CAD models for computational analysis.

Monika began their career at CERN in 2005 as a Technical Student. Here, they optimized cooling processes of cryogenic pipelines and conducted theoretical and 1-D modeling of heat transfer in cryogenic systems.

Overall, Monika Sitko's work experience showcases their expertise in project management, R&D, simulations, material engineering, and the design and manufacturing of complex mechanical components for cryogenic and superconducting systems.

Monika Sitko, PhD, PMP has an extensive education history in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Monika obtained their Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Computational Mechanics from Politechnika Krakowska im. Tadeusza Kościuszki, a renowned technical university in Poland, where they studied from 2001 to 2007. Following their Master's Degree, Monika pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Mechanics of Materials at the same institution, completing their studies from 2007 to 2011.

In addition to their academic achievements, Monika has also obtained two significant certifications. Monika has completed Business Concept Training from Innosuisse - Swiss Innovation Agency in June 2020, which enhances their understanding and skills in the entrepreneurial aspects of business concepts. Furthermore, Monika is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)® by the Project Management Institute, having acquired this certification in February 2020. This certification emphasizes their expertise and proficiency in project management methodologies and practices.
