Eric Nelson

Eric Nelson is an Environmental Specialist at Johnson County, KS Government since October 2020, focusing on sustainable waste practices and the implementation of the county’s Solid Waste Plan. Prior to this role, Eric served as a Senior Hazardous Waste Technician at The University of Kansas from July 2013 to June 2020, where responsibilities included managing the Recycling Program and providing regional consulting services. Eric's earlier experience includes serving as Recycling Team Lead/Events Coordinator, overseeing recycling services for various campus events. Additionally, Eric managed the Compost Site at Johnson County Community College from July 2011 to June 2013, where Eric operated the first in-vessel compost unit in Kansas secondary education and was responsible for organic waste collection and program metrics. Education includes studies at The University of Kansas, Johnson County Community College, and a certificate from Maine Compost School in Compost Site Management/Design.
