Carys Alder is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in program development and project management, primarily within the charitable sector. Currently serving as Head of Programme Development at Trees for Cities since October 2014, Carys leads initiatives to create urban forests and increase access to nature across the UK, collaborating with local authorities and schools. Previous roles at Trees for Cities include Acting Development Director and Schools Programme Senior Manager, focusing on greening urban school environments. Prior to this, Carys worked at Healthy Planet as a Conservation Project Officer, Kenexa as a Project Manager, and the Centre for High Performance Development as a Resource/Project Coordinator. Carys holds a 2.1 degree in Geography from the University of Liverpool.

Trees for Cities is the only independent charity working on a global scale focused entirely on planting urban trees, inspiring children to grow and eat good food and providing volunteering opportunities to bring local people together. Since our inception we have engaged over 80,000 volunteers to plant over 800,000 trees focusing on health, food security, environmental protection, and providing opportunities for education and learning through our Edible Playground and Urban Forest programmes.
