Amelia U. Santos-Paulino, PhD, serves as the Chief of the Investment Research Section in the Division on Investment and Enterprise at UNCTAD since January 2011, having previously held the position of Senior Economist focused on Africa, Least Developed Countries, and Special Programmes. Prior experience includes a role as a Research Fellow and Project Director at UNU-WIDER from January 2005 to December 2010, and as a Visiting Scholar at UC Davis in mid-2009. Santos-Paulino has also worked as a Research Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies and has held professor positions in economics at both Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo. Early career experience includes serving as a Research Economist at the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. Educational credentials include a PhD in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Development Economics from the University of Kent, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, complemented by executive education at Harvard Kennedy School in political science and government.
