Josie Byzek has extensive experience in the field of communications and digital experience. Josie started their career as a Systems Change Coordinator at the Pa. Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities, where they oversaw and coordinated advocacy efforts. During their time there, they played a significant role in driving advocacy for important legislation and edited the internal magazine, The Keystone.
From 2000 to 2005, Josie worked as an Associate Editor at Leonard Media Group, where they created an internal style guide, wrote articles and columns, and pioneered the blog section for New Mobility magazine before it became part of United Spinal Association.
In 2005, Josie joined United Spinal Association, initially as a Managing Editor for New Mobility magazine. In this role, they oversaw the magazine's flow, implemented a digital strategy, and laid the groundwork for the transition to digital-first content dissemination.
Josie then became the Executive Editor of New Mobility magazine, collaborating with a passionate team to create high-quality content that supports United Spinal Association's mission. During their tenure, the publication embraced its role as a media outlet and expanded its digital presence.
In 2021, Josie took on the position of Director of Operations for New Mobility magazine, where they reorganized the team and implemented a hybrid project management model to drive efficiency and prepare for growth across digital platforms.
Most recently, Josie served as the Digital Experience and Content Director at United Spinal Association, focusing on enhancing the organization's digital presence and user experience.
Josie's work experience encompasses a range of responsibilities, including content creation, team management, print-to-digital transitions, and advocacy coordination. Josie'sexpertise in communications and digital strategy has made significant contributions to the organizations they have worked for.
Josie Byzek obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English and creative writing from Carlow University. Josie then pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary, although the specific field of study is not mentioned.
