Stephanie Ralls has a diverse work experience history, with their most recent position being the Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Learning and Engagement at United Way for Southeastern Michigan since March 2022. Before that, they worked as a Manager of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Engagement at the same organization from January 2021 to March 2022. Prior to joining United Way, Stephanie held various roles, such as a Specialist in Volunteer Engagement at United Way from November 2019 to January 2021. Stephanie has also interned in various roles, including Human Resources Administrative and Policy Intern at Washtenaw County Office of Community and Economic Development from May 2017 to April 2018, and Human Resources Administration Intern at Development Centers from September 2016 to April 2017. Stephanie has further experience in marketing and public relations through their internship at Special Olympics Michigan from January to May 2016. Stephanie has a passion for mentoring and has served as a Site Coordinator for the Lunch Buddies Mentoring Program at Central Michigan University Volunteer Center from September 2014 to December 2015.
Stephanie Ralls completed their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in Social Policy and Evaluation from the University of Michigan in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Public Relations/ Public Affairs/ Leadership from Central Michigan University in 2016. Stephanie has also obtained additional certifications including "Difficult Conversations: Talking about Race at Work" from LinkedIn in 2023, "Diversity and Inclusion for HR Certificate" from Cornell University in 2021, and they participated in "The Leadershape Institute" in 2014.

We mobilize the caring power of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan to improve communities and individual lives across Wayne, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Macomb counties in measurable and lasting ways. IN OUR REGION, NEARLY 40% OF HOUSEHOLDS STRUGGLE TO MEET THEIR BASIC NEEDS. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Southeastern Michigan, families in our community were struggling. Now, the situation is dire. People are struggling to find jobs, or they’re working, but not making enough to provide for their families. Parents are forced to choose between feeding their children and paying the rent. Senior citizens have to go without prescriptions. Children struggle to keep up in school. College students have to go without health care. This is a problem in every city in our region — and the problem is growing. This affects your neighbors, coworkers, and friends. This is everyone’s problem. Without stable households, children will never be able to thrive. And if children aren’t thriving now, they won’t be prepared to build stable households in the future — or a stable community. Together, we can break the cycle. At United Way, we work to build communities where all households are stable and every child can thrive.
