Maria Izabel Cardozo

Maria Izabel Cardozo is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in regulatory policy and dispute resolution. Currently, as a researcher at Università di Pavia, Maria Izabel is involved in a major Italian government-funded project focused on food, nutrition, and sustainability. Previously, at Philip Morris International, Maria Izabel served as Assistant General Counsel for Regulatory & Policy, where key contributions were made to company-wide policies regarding novel consumer products and the development of PMI’s first human rights policy. Additionally, as Legal Director for Brazil, oversight of the legal department was provided within a highly regulated environment. Earlier, a successful career as a Senior Associate at Pinheiro Neto Advogados was established, specializing in complex commercial litigation. Maria Izabel holds multiple advanced degrees, including an LLM in International Business Law and Dispute Resolution from the University of Lausanne, and a Master's degree in Business and Human Rights from the University of Bergen.
