Michael Payne

Michael Payne is an experienced healthcare executive with a strong background in transplant services and critical care. Currently serving as the Executive Director at University Health System since April 2014, Michael oversees multiple departments including Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiology, Solid Organ Transplant, Telemetry Monitoring, and Video Monitoring. Prior to this role, Michael held various positions at the same institution from 2000 to 2014, including Administrative Director and Director of the J. Kent Trinkle Transplant Unit, as well as serving as a Patient Care Coordinator and Staff Nurse in the Transplant ICU. Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a focus on Administrative Management from UT Health San Antonio and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University.
