Laura Smythson

Laura Smythson has extensive experience in student health and wellbeing roles at the University of Surrey since February 2008, currently serving as Interim Director of Student Life and previously in various leadership roles in wellbeing and welfare. Notable achievements include leading the implementation of a mass meningitis vaccination programme for over 3600 students and adopting a holistic approach to support students with complex needs. Laura possesses a strong nursing background, having held positions such as Lead Nurse and Community Health Nurse, where responsibilities encompassed patient care, operational management, and team leadership. Education includes a Bachelor's degree in Health Services from the University of Surrey. Additionally, Laura has served in governance roles with Universities UK and the Student Health Association, further demonstrating commitment to student health initiatives.
