Patrick McDaniel serves as the Tsun-Ming Shih Professor of Computer Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since August 2022. Previously, McDaniel held various academic positions at Penn State University from August 2004 to August 2022, including Distinguished Professor, Director, and the William L. Weiss Professor of Information and Communications Technology. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Research Staff Member at AT&T and as a member of the Secure Systems Group at AT&T Labs-Research. McDaniel initiated his career at the University of Michigan as a graduate student and completed a fellowship at NASA Kennedy Space Center. McDaniel earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and holds a BS in Computer Science from Ohio University, along with additional education from Ball State University.
