James Gunson

James Gunson serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Claim Officer at Vantage Risk Companies since May 2025. Prior roles include Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer at James River Insurance Group, where responsibilities encompassed claims strategy development and customer satisfaction. Gunson also held a Senior Vice President position at CNA Insurance, focusing on improving claim handling and results across various lines of business. Previous experience includes roles at Chubb NA, managing worldwide casualty claims and environmental claims, along with legal positions at Carroll McNulty & Kull and Borg Warner Protective Services. Gunson began a legal career with experience as a law clerk at the Supreme Judicial Court of the State of Maine and served as a First Lieutenant in the US Army. Gunson holds a JD from the University of Maine School of Law and a BA in Political Science from the University of Delaware.
