Juri Y. Fukuda, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist at VERDE Nanomaterials since October 2023, with extensive experience in nanomaterials and organic chemistry. Prior to this role, Juri served as a Bio-polymer Researcher at the University of California, Davis from September 2014 to March 2022, focusing on the biomass conversion of nanocellulose for sustainable materials. Previous positions include Nanomaterials Researcher at the same university, specializing in rare earth nanocrystals and solar energy applications, and various roles in medicinal chemistry and organic synthesis at organizations such as Elan Pharmaceuticals, SUGEN, and Affymax Research Institute. Juri holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry from the University of California, Davis, an MS in Organic Chemistry from San Francisco State University, and a BS in Biochemistry from the same institution.

VERDE Nanomaterials is producing affordable cellulose nanofibers from waste feedstocks to enable sustainable materials in the circular bioeconomy. Cellulose nanofibers are high-value biomaterials with extraordinary properties that can enhance products in a wide range of applications, from low-volume (cosmetics, electronics, filtration, sensors) to high-volume (packaging, plastic, composites, cement). Thus, cellulose nanofibers bring a sustainable solution for high-performance and biodegradable technologies across various market applications. Using green chemistry principles to convert low-cost renewable feedstocks into nano-sized fibrils, VERDE Nanomaterials aims to replace petroleum-based materials in various materials and help develop a more sustainable economy.
