Derek Coover has extensive work experience in the engineering field. From 2010 to 2014, they worked at Raven Industries as a Product Development Specialist, specializing in the development and production of high-performance plastic films and sheetings. Derek then advanced to the role of Project Manager I, where they managed product development projects from inception to launch. In December 2019, Coover was promoted to Engineering Manager at Raven Industries, overseeing engineering operations. In July 2022, they joined Viaflex as the Director of Engineering.

Derek Coover completed their education at the University of Sioux Falls in 2019, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Prior to this, from 2003 to 2009, they attended South Dakota State University, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology. Derek began their education at Sioux Valley High School, where they completed their high school education from 1999 to 2003.
