Chief Scientist at Victrex

John G. has extensive work experience in various companies and organizations. John started their career at Basell in 2000, where they worked as the Global Business Vice-President until 2005. In 2005, they joined Victrex as the Global Applied Technology Manager and later held positions such as Technical Director of Victrex Polymer Solutions and Technical Director of Victrex Group. Since 2016, John G. has been serving as the Chief Scientist at Victrex.

Apart from their roles at Victrex, John G. has also been involved in various external organizations. John served as the Chairman of KCMC part of the CPI Innovation Services since 2013. Additionally, they became a Non-Executive Director at Henry Royce Institute in 2017 and joined the ThermoPlastic composites Research Center as a Consortium Board Member in the same year.

John G. is also actively engaged with academic institutions and research hubs. John is currently an Honorary Professor at the University of Exeter and a member of the Chemical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board at the University of Southampton. John is also an Advisory Board Member at the Future Biomanufacturing Research Hub.

Throughout their career, John G. has contributed to the industry through their involvement in the Knowledge Centre for Materials Chemistry, where they served on the Industry Steering Group from 2008 to 2013. John was also part of the Management Team at the Organic Materials Innovation Centre from 2005 to 2008.

John G. obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in Chemistry, with a focus on Solid State Chemistry, from the University of Southampton. John completed their studies at the university from 1983 to 1989. Additionally, they obtained the certification of Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry from the Royal Society of Chemistry in March 2021.
