Helen P. Ross has extensive experience in historic preservation and architectural history, currently serving as a Member of the Architectural Review Board for the City of Fredericksburg since January 2021. Ross has held the position of Preservation Program Manager and Architectural Historian with the Virginia Department of Transportation since July 1994. From 2008 to July 2021, Ross was a Member and Chair of the Board of Zoning Appeals. Previous roles include serving on the City of Fredericksburg Architectural Review Board from 1999 to 2007, and as an Architectural Historian with the North Carolina Department of Transportation from 1992 to 1994. Ross began a career in preservation with positions such as Consultant for the Raleigh Historic Properties Commission and Project Intern at the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in American Studies from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Delaware.
