Karthik Viswanathan

Karthik Viswanathan is an accomplished scientist and executive with extensive experience in research and leadership roles. Currently serving as Vice President of Research at Visterra Inc. since June 2009, Karthik also holds the positions of Executive Director and was previously a Founding Scientist to Senior Director. Karthik's academic background includes a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research focused on virus evolution and influenza virus transmissibility, resulting in 12 peer-reviewed publications. Prior to this, Karthik was a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT and a Graduate Research Assistant at The Johns Hopkins University, where work included engineering insect cell lines for glycoprotein production. Karthik holds an Executive Education degree in Corporate Innovation and Leadership from Stanford University, a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, and a B. Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
