Steven Hildner has extensive experience in corporate social responsibility and government relations. Currently serving as the Administrator of Corporate Social Responsibility at Wakefern Food Corp. since November 2010, Steven leads initiatives in charitable giving, sustainability marketing, and stakeholder engagement for multiple grocery brands. Prior to this role, Steven worked as a Government Relations Specialist, where responsibilities included monitoring legislative issues and lobbying, as well as preparing reports for executive leadership. Earlier experience includes serving as the Director of Constituent Services for the US Congress from April 2003 to November 2010, overseeing casework and outreach operations. Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Monmouth University, earned in May 2003.

Following World War II, the end of food rationing and the lifting of price controls marked the beginning of a challenging time for the independent grocer. During the war, customer loyalty to independent grocers was strong, but afterward, the bigger self-service supermarkets were offering a wider selection at lower prices, and frugal shoppers took notice.
