Monique Martin-Johnson has had extensive work experience in the Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency. In their most recent role as Vocational Project Manager, which began in November 2017, they were responsible for managing the pilot Early Childhood Apprenticeship program. This involved coaching unemployed/underemployed candidates to become certified entry-level teaching professionals, establishing partnerships for educational and training support, and evaluating apprenticeship candidates. Prior to this, from March 2010 to September 2015, Monique served as the Early Learning Communities Hub Manager, overseeing the program's operations and promoting positive caregiver relationships and child development education. Additionally, they worked as a Parent Educator for the Even Start Family Literacy program from May 2005 to March 2010, designing lesson plans and activities to improve parent-child interactions and addressing various child development and discipline issues.

Monique Martin-Johnson has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa. In addition to their degree, they have obtained several certifications. These include Building Groups Training from Adaptive Schools in June 2015, Child Care Center Orientation from the Child Care Licensing Division in February 2014, I am Moving, I am Learning certification in May 2010, Training on HighScope Curriculum from the HighScope Educational Research Foundation in February 2010, Motheread Instructor Training Institute in February 2004, Parent Talk Facilitator certification in July 2002, and a You Make the Difference Program License in September 2006.
