Tom Merrall

Tom Merrall is an experienced professional in the field of risk management, currently serving as the Lead of Client Market Risk at Wealthsimple since January 2024. Prior to this role, Tom held the position of Head of Model Risk at BMO Financial Group from February 2019 to June 2023. Tom's extensive career at Bank of Montreal includes roles as Managing Director in BMO Capital Markets and Director of Financial Products, along with experience as a Quant Analyst specializing in risk models. Tom began a career in quantitative analysis at TD Bank and contributed as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Toronto's Supernova Legacy Survey. Tom earned a Ph.D. in Physics from Queen's University, where Tom also obtained a B.Sc. in the same field.
