Ryan Murphy is an experienced news reporter currently working at WHRO Public Media since July 2021, focusing on racial issues in Hampton Roads. Previously, Ryan served as a Norfolk City Hall Reporter at The Virginian-Pilot from January 2017 to June 2021, where coverage included city events and activities. Ryan also contributed as a Breaking/Enterprise Reporter at The Virginian-Pilot, joining the digital team to enhance online journalism. Prior experiences include reporting for The Daily Press, managing news content as News Editor for The Commonwealth Times, and holding editorial positions at Mesh Media and The Horn RVA. Ryan's early career commenced as a Teen Reporter at The Virginian-Pilot. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a focus on Journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University.
