Sonia Edith Tapuy Vargas has extensive experience in the field of education, serving as a docente del idioma inglés at Unidad Educativa "Provincia de Pastaza" and Colegio "Provincia de Pastaza" since 1984 and 1990, respectively. With over 30 years of teaching experience, Sonia also holds the position of Coordinadora en el Ecuador for Wings of Hope, an organization that focuses on sustainable projects and humanitarian aid in economically disadvantaged communities in the Amazon region. Sonia earned a degree in Linguistics Applied to the English Language from ESPE, Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas del Ecuador, and is pursuing a Master's degree in University Teaching.

Wings of Hope
Wings of Hope changes and saves lives through the power of aviation. In the U.S., the nonprofit provides medical air transport services – free of charge – to individuals who need access to specialized medical care. The organization also works in 10 countries outside of the U.S., working with in-country partners to fly people in remote areas to emergency medical care and fly doctors into communities with no local health care. Wings of Hope has been twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and has a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator. In 2017, Wings of Hope directly served 45,858 people around the world.
