Emily Y. Teng has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Emily Y. started their career as a Volunteer Teacher in the A.I.D. Volunteer Teaching Program in 2009. In 2016, Emily worked as an Xbox - Beijing-Redmond Test Coordinator (Contract) at Microsoft, where they coordinated testing activities between Beijing and Redmond locations. Emily Y. furthered their career at NeoCrux Ltd. as a Game Writer (Freelancer) and Software Test Contractor.
Emily acquired extensive experience in writing and editing as a Freelance Editor for various projects. Emily Y. proofread, copy edited, and performed in-depth edits on fiction and nonfiction works. Additionally, they served as a Content Editor for Etopia Press and an Editor for Scripted, editing manuscripts, blog posts, and other business writings.
Their most recent position was as a Senior Worldbuilding Game Designer at Wizards of the Coast since 2018. Emily was a critical member of the Worldbuilding team for Magic: The Gathering and had significant contributions to multiple game releases. Emily Y. conceptualized sets such as M21, Theros: Beyond Death, Commander Legends, M22, and MH2, and served as the creative lead on projects like Commander Legends, Double Masters, MH2, and Commander Legends: Battle of Baldur's Gate.
Emily Y. Teng attended Texas A&M University from 2008 to 2012, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English-Creative Writing & Psychology.
