Licensed to Savannah, it broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 22 from a transmitter in unincorporated Western Chatham County, Georgia. The station can also be seen on Comcast channel 4, Time Warner Cable channel 7 and Charter channel 12, and in HD on Comcast digital channel 431, Charter digital channel 704, and Time Warner Cable digital channel 1105. WJCL ABC is owned by Hearst Television Inc and is housed on the third floor of the Savannah Morning News building in Savannah, Georgia. The station began operations July 18, 1970 as WJCL-TV and aired an analog signal on UHF channel 22. It was the fourth television station to launch in Savannah and immediately became the area's first-ever primary ABC outlet.
