Michael Pfister

Michael Pfister is an experienced media professional with a focus on photo editing and journalism. Currently serving as Leiter Bildredaktion at ZEIT ONLINE since April 2016, Michael has previously held leadership roles, including Creative Director and Director of Photography at Gruner + Jahr GmbH & Co KG from October 2014 to March 2016, and commissioning photo editor for current affairs at Axel Springer from July 2010 to July 2014. Michael's extensive portfolio includes collaborations with notable photojournalists and agencies, showcasing a deep commitment to visual storytelling. Additionally, Michael has a background as a founding member of the Institute of Contemporary Urban Encounters and has worked as a photo editor at various organizations including laif Agentur für Fotografie & Reportage and Ringier. Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in photo editing, visual journalism, and journalism from MAZ - The Swiss Journalism School.
