About this role

ZILO is looking for a skilled Technical Writer to join our dynamic Digital Product Team. As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for our digital products, including user manuals, technical specifications, release notes, and help articles. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, developers, and QA engineers, to ensure that our products are accurately documented and easily accessible to users.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, developers, and QA engineers, to ensure that documentation accurately reflects product features and functionality.
  • Develop and maintain a content strategy for our digital products, ensuring that documentation is consistent in style, tone, and format.
  • Conduct research and gather information from subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the usability of documentation and user interfaces, and work with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
  • Develop and maintain a content management system to ensure that documentation is easily accessible to users.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing for digital products, software, or SaaS products.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment and familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard documentation tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Markdown.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information in simple, clear language.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience with content management systems and version control tools.
  • Familiarity with UX writing and best practices is a plus.

  • Strong technical writing skills: You must be able to write clear, concise, and accurate documentation that is easy for users to understand.

You can help teams to manage and visualize outcomes, prioritize work and adhere to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), priorities and scope.
  • Stakeholder relationship management. You can influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively. You can build long-term strategic relationships and communicate clearly and regularly with stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking. You can lead the design and implementation of strategy, directing the evaluation of strategies and policies to ensure business requirements are being met.
  • Technical understanding (user-centered design). You can demonstrate knowledge of the technologies used to build and operate digital services. You can collaborate closely with colleagues in different digital disciplines.
  • User focus. You can give direction on which tools or methods to use. You can demonstrate experience in meeting the needs of users across a variety of channels. You can bring insight and expertise in how user needs have changed over time to ensure they’re met by the business. You can apply strategic thinking to provide the best service for the end user.
  • User-centered content design. You can show a deep understanding of end-to-end journeys and how content is affected within these journeys. You can identify where journey fixes or content improvements need to be made. You can take responsibility for assuring the quality of content from more junior colleagues and coaching and guiding them to improve. You can ensure that content is regularly reviewed and evaluated, contributing to continuous improvements and iteration. You can encourage a continuous improvement mindset in teams and more junior content colleagues.
