He started Greylock’s California operation in 1984, and has been an early/founding investor in more than 30 companies, of which more than a dozen have achieved an IPO, including Ascend Communications, Forte Software, Internet Security Systems, DoubleClick, and SuccessFactors. Today he is actively involved in several, high-growth private companies, including Matrixx Software, OpenDNS, and Oportun, and also serves on the Board of EMC and VMware.
