Lisa Black is a Principal Scientific Officer at the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, where responsibilities include leading the AFBI Crossnacreevy station and acting as Chief Seed Testing Officer for Northern Ireland, overseeing statutory, commercial, and research activities in seed and variety evaluation, soil health, organic manures, and land use. Lisa coordinates the H2020 project InnoVar, focusing on next-generation variety testing for improved cropping in Europe, and previously served as Project Leader for Seeds and Cereals, managing seed testing and cereal variety evaluation. Prior to this, Lisa was a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast, contributing to research on nitrite formation in grazed grassland soils. Lisa holds a PhD in Nitrogen cycling in forest ecosystems from the University of Aberdeen and a BSc in Applied Biology with a focus on Agronomy from Liverpool John Moores University.
