Michael Boeckh, MD, PhD, is Head of the Infectious Disease Sciences Program and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington. He is an internationally recognized expert in infections in the immuncompromised host with specific interest in herpes and respiratory viruses. His areas of interest are viral kinetics, immune reconstitution and management strategies. Dr. Boeckh received his MD and PhD (Dr. med) degree as well as his internal medicine training from the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, and completed his infectious disease training at the University of Washington in Seattle.
