Juan Ruiz is a distinguished economist with extensive experience in economic analysis, research, and leadership. Currently serving as the Global Country Teams Coordinator and Chief Economist for Latin America at BBVA Research since May 2010, Juan Ruiz manages over 60 economists across nine countries, focusing on macroeconomic research and analysis in Latin America. Previously, Juan Ruiz held significant positions at Banco de España, including Head of the International Economics Division and Senior Economist, where contributions involved monitoring global economic issues. Academic roles include Visiting Professor at the University of Essex and Assistant Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, with research concentrated on macroeconomics and international trade. Juan Ruiz holds a PhD in Economics from Boston University and completed executive education at Harvard University.
