Lawrence Black is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in various roles focused on historic preservation, venture capital, and organizational leadership. As Principal at Civic Holdings since February 2011, Lawrence has specialized in historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and placemaking initiatives. Additionally, as a Founding Member at NextGen Venture Partners, involvement includes backing exceptional entrepreneurs and seed-stage companies. Lawrence has served as Managing Director at Mindful Ventures since 1997, leading investments in over 50 startups, particularly in the specialty coffee sector. Other significant roles include Venture Partner at WealthForge, Board Member positions for Greenville Revitalization Corporation and Greenville County Redevelopment Authority, and past involvement with StraighterLine and Projecto Honduras. Academic credentials include a Master of Real Estate Development from Clemson University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from St. John's College.
