Joshua Hallas, PhD, is a research scientist and postdoctoral researcher with extensive experience in evolutionary genetics and ecology. Currently serving as Research Scientist I at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Davis since May 2022, Joshua has also held a position as Research Associate at the California Academy of Sciences since June 2014. Joshua's teaching experience includes Graduate Teaching Assistant roles at the University of Nevada Reno and San Francisco State University, where instruction focused on genetics and disease ecology. Additionally, Joshua has contributed as an Interpretive Naturalist at San Francisco Whale Tours, providing education on ecological and behavioral aspects of marine life. Joshua earned a PhD in Evolutionary Genetics from the University of Nevada, Reno, complemented by a Master of Science in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from San Francisco State University.
