Dawny George has a strong background in engineering and management. They started their career as a Project Manager at Suncor Energy in 2005. They then worked as a Manager for Infrastructure Planning and Design at the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo from 2011 to 2014. Dawny joined Stantec in 2014 as a Senior Associate before returning to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in 2016. At Wood Buffalo, Dawny held the position of Director of Engineering and later Director of Engineering and Environmental Services. In these roles, they successfully managed multiple functions and a large staff, oversaw infrastructure projects, and played a key role in emergency operations during the 2016 Horse River Wildfire. Dawny currently works as the Director of Engineering for the City of St. Albert, starting in 2018.
Dawny George has a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Civil Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut. In addition, Dawny has completed two Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees, one from Queen's University and another from Cornell University.
