Zhe Rui is a Principal Scientist at Codexis, Inc., where since September 2020, Zhe Rui has built and managed protein engineering teams focused on RNAi/mRNA manufacturing, sequencing, diagnosis, and genome engineering. Rui's work includes strain engineering in E. coli, bacillus, and various yeasts for small molecule production, as well as high-throughput assay development and automation. Prior to this role, Zhe Rui was a Senior Scientist at Antheia, Inc. from July 2019 to June 2020, specializing in yeast strain and protein engineering for small molecule production. Zhe Rui also contributed as a Senior Scientist at Chevron Renewable Energy Group from May 2015 to July 2019, leading a multidisciplinary team in the scale-up production of a key biochemical and the commercialization of Ambrettolide HC Suprême. Zhe Rui's earlier career includes multiple roles at UC Berkeley, culminating in a postdoctoral position from July 2011 to May 2015. Zhe Rui holds a PhD in Biological Sciences/Biochemistry from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Zhejiang University.
