Jun Rao

Jun Rao is a co-founder of Confluent, where efforts are focused on advancing Apache Kafka technology and facilitating user adoption of Kafka-based solutions since September 2014. As a Kafka committer at The Apache Software Foundation and a Cassandra committer for Apache, professional contributions extend back to May 2009. Previously, Jun Rao served as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn, leading the Kafka team in processing diverse types of data for various consumer needs from May 2010 to September 2014. Earlier experience includes a decade at IBM Almaden Research Center as a Research Staff Member, researching scalable databases and contributing to projects like Hadoop and Cassandra. Education includes a PhD in computer science from Columbia University and a B.E. in Computer Science from Tsinghua University.
