How will you create impact?  As the People Operations Manager, you’ll be pivotal in building a solid People Ops and HR foundation and enabling scalability. Reporting to the VP of People, you will work closely to operationalize workflows, optimize processes, and ensure seamless execution of critical People operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an action-biased environment, is passionate about creating efficient systems, and is excited to bring structure to the seeming chaos of rapid growth. It is a huge learning opportunity for someone who wants start-up experience and to learn the product mindset in a People Operations role.

Operational Excellence: Build smart systems for employee lifecycle activities that keep us running smoothly and legally in Canada, the US, Colombia, and the world. Why? You’ll make life easier for employees and managers while keeping us above board.

Be our tech wizard for People tools and systems, making sure everything works like a charm and our data stays clean. Why? A solid tech setup means fewer headaches, better decisions, and less time clicking “refresh” on broken dashboards.

Strategic Collaboration: Spot ways to simplify processes and help us cut down the HR admin grind by 25% (or more—let’s dream big!). Why? Less time on busy work means more time to focus on what actually makes a difference for our team.

Team up with leaders to design workflows that aren’t just functional but also a little bit fabulous. Why? The right systems make work smoother, teams stronger, and leaders happier.

Keep leadership on track with updates on goals and metrics so everyone’s rowing in the same direction. Why? When we all know where we’re going, we get there faster—and with fewer detours.

HR Foundations: Keep our records, policies, and procedures up-to-date and make sure they’re not just a snooze-fest, but actually useful. Why? People need clarity, and a solid foundation means fewer “What’s the policy on…?” Slack messages.

Help run our comp and performance programs so they’re clear, fair, and thoughtful, and actually make people say, “Wow, this is a great place to work!” Why? Happy humans = a thriving team.

Be the go-to helper for managers and employees when they need support or have a “people ops mystery” to solve. Why? You’re the glue that holds things together, keeping the vibes good and the questions answered.

Dive into ad-hoc projects that pop up and need a little extra love to get done. Why? Because you’re the person who can tackle the unexpected like a pro and keep us moving forward.

Talent & Onboarding Support: Work with the Talent team to make hiring a well-oiled machine, and jump in when needed to help screen candidates. Why? The faster we find great people, the faster they can help us grow—and you’ll play a big part in making that happen.

Make onboarding magic by helping to create experiences that make new hires feel like rockstars and ready to shine within four months. Why? First impressions count, and you’ll be the mastermind behind making ours unforgettable.

In a nutshell, this role will:

This next bit is about you! Proven experience: 5+ years in HR or People Operations roles, with a track record of operationalizing workflows in high-growth environments. We love the CHRP/L or related work experience. Tech-savvy: Proficiency with HRIS platforms, ATS systems, and other People-related tools. Experience in selecting and implementing new tools is a plus. Detail-oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and commitment ...to delivering accurate, high-quality work. Problem solver: Ability to navigate ambiguity, think critically, and develop solutions aligned with DealMaker’s culture. Relationship builder: Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders. Values-driven: A commitment to DealMaker’s values, especially embracing the messy work of growth and centering the employee experience.

  • Note this is an in-person role. Occasional WFH as needed, but we are in person most days. The office is located at 141 Bathurst Street, Toronto. 😊
