Alessio Fanelli

Partner at Decibel

Alessio is a partner at Decibel where he works closely with technical founders who are building tools for technical users. Before joining Decibel, he was a Principal at 645 Ventures, where he helped lead investments in dev tools, security, and enterprise SaaS. His investments included Cube Dev, Panther Labs, Launchable, Oort, and Bigeye, amongst others. He works with founders on everything from product design and go-to-market strategy to recruiting world-class technical talent.

Earlier in his career, Alessio was the founder of Smart Torvy, an open source and hardware home automation platform, and was a lead engineer at early-stage startups such as Welcome Tech. He continues to be a passionate open source developer and contributor to many projects. He also co-hosts the Latent Space podcast with Swyx, where they interview builders and researchers in the AI space.

Alessio grew up in Rome, Italy before moving to the US . He now lives in the Bay Area, where he has to wake up much earlier to follow his beloved AS Roma games.
