Marlene Abshire has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Marlene started their career in 1987 as a Military Police officer in the US Army. In this role, they served until 2007. Following their military service, Marlene joined the DoD Inspector General in 2007 and served as the Physical Security/Antiterrorism Program Manager. Marlene'sresponsibilities in this role included planning, implementing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating the agency's physical security and antiterrorism program initiatives. Marlene conducted official physical security and vulnerability assessments for various agency offices, both in the US and overseas, ensuring compliance with DoD and Interagency Security Committee requirements. Lastly, Marlene currently holds the position of Lead Security Inspector at the U.S. Department of State, starting in 2020.
Marlene Abshire holds a Master's degree in Homeland Security from American Military University and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science from the University of Maryland. Marlene also obtained a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification in 2012.
