James Shorter

James (Jim) Shorter graduated with distinction in biology from Keble College, the University of Oxford in 1995. He received his Ph.D. from University College London in 2000. After postdoctoral studies at Yale and the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research at MIT, Jim established his own research program at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2018, Jim became a Professor of biochemistry and biophysics. The Shorter lab studies how to counter deleterious phase transitions in neurodegenerative disease.
