What We Do

Encodia is a rapidly growing platform company that is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein sequencing easy and ubiquitous by using a novel reverse-translation technology that turns peptide sequences into DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical, cross-functional, biotechnology manufacturing/operations professional to join our rapidly growing organization, and establish/build a robust, commercial-grade manufacturing environment.

Reports To

This position reports directly to the Vice President of System Integrations Kenneth Kuhn. Ken began as a Scientist I with Illumina and spent the next 16 years advancing to the level of Sr. Director. He holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Drexel University, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Stanford University.

What We Need Your Help With

• Planning, establishing, building, and overseeing a commercial manufacturing organization.
• Developing scalable processes/procedures centered on biomolecules & bioconjugates.
• Dissecting short/long-term issues and prioritizing tactical/strategic solutions.
• Directing investment in preparatory/analytical equipment, and managing maintenance, layout, usage, process improvement, etc.
• Establishing statistical quantitative QA/QC organizational functions.
• Building kitting/shipping capability and inventory management procedures.
• Implementing a LIMS-enabled environment.
• Driving core competency and insource/outsource decision making.
• Preparing quantitative financial reports to track operational efficiency.

What We Look For

• PhD in bioengineering or related engineering/scientific discipline with 12+ years’ prior experience.
• Demonstrated history of leadership and product commercialization in a successful biotechnology manufacturing environment.
• Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes, organizational methodologies, and vendor relationship management.
• Highly motivated, proactive, agile team player with excellent communication skills.
