🎯 What We Do

Encodia is a rapidly growing platform company that is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein sequencing easy and ubiquitous by using a novel reverse-translation technology that turns peptide sequences into DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.

💼 Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical, cross-functional, formulation specialist to join our rapidly growing organization, and implement robust best practices for reagent formulation of complex biomolecule mixtures.

🤝 Reports To

This position reports directly to the Head of Manufacturing, Paul Kitabjian. Paul is an expert in the proteomics space with a demonstrated history of leading cross functional teams in the development of consumable genomics products and their manufacturing process. Paul joined Encodia looking to further his passion for proteomics in developing the next generation of protein sequencing tools.

💥 What We Need Your Help With

• Establishing preformulation and formulation procedures and process optimization methods to develop and commercialize consumable kit reagents, including proteins, nucleic acids, small molecules, etc.
• Implementing analytical instrumentation/QC methods to assess stability, solubility and functional performance of active components
• Directing investment in equipment, and managing maintenance, layout, usage and process improvement
• Scaling production and transferring procedures to a manufacturing environment
• Working effectively with a cross-functional team of science and engineering technical experts in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
• Driving core competency and insource/outsource decision making

🔍 What We Look For

• PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry or related discipline
• 5+ years’ of prior industry experience
• Demonstrated history of leadership in formulation process development, including screening, verification and validation
• Detailed knowledge of protein and nucleic acid biochemistry and interactivity with buffers, salts, excipients, etc., including DOE of complex system optimization
• Detailed knowledge of biophysics-based analytical instrumentation
• Prior experience with bioconjugation is a plus
• Highly motivated, proactive, agile team player with excellent communication skills to translate organizational directives to scalable automated solutions
