Caleb Astey

Caleb Astey has a wealth of work experience, beginning with a Research Assistant position at Duquesne University in 2004. In 2007, they became a Software Engineer at Boeing, developing C4ISR software using primarily C, C++, and Java. In 2012, they co-founded Flashband, a social networking website to allow DC based musicians to participate in Flashband events. In 2013, they joined Opower as a Software Engineer, working primarily developing and maintaining Java based RESTful apis that provided analytics and metrics to utility clients. In 2016, they joined LendUp as a Senior Software Engineer, helping to build user experiences and compliance guards for credit products aimed at the credit challenged. Finally, in 2019, they joined EveryDay Labs as the Director of Engineering and Principal Software Engineer.

Caleb Astey earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mathematics from Duquesne University between 2003 and 2007. Caleb then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science at George Mason University, which they are still pursuing. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in October 2020.
