Started by former Xbox game designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s founder Matthew Inman, Exploding Kittens and its family of games seek to reshape traditional game night into an entertaining person-to-person experience. Today, there are nearly 30 games available for purchase, an exclusive Exploding Kittens mobile game for Netflix subscribers, a free-to-play app, Kitty Letter, and an Exploding Kittens mobile app available iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch as well as an animated Netflix series titled ‘Exploding Kittens’ in production.

Ready to take the lead in a role where strategy meets creativity? Exploding Kittens is searching for a Social Media Content Strategy Manager who thrives in the ever-changing world of content creation.

In this role, you’ll enhance our visibility and engage a global community using your expert understanding of social media tools and trends. You'll develop and execute strategies that balance achieving sales goals with content that entertains and engages, further building the brand with both existing and new customers. Working directly under the VP of Marketing, you’ll oversee and direct in-house and external creators, influencers, and video editors to drive growth and foster genuine, deep audience engagement at scale.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

  • Oversee and drive a channel-specific organic content strategy for all Exploding Kittens social channels, optimizing for growth, brand-building, quality engagement and most importantly, product sales.
  • Experiment with new content formats and platforms to keep our social media presence fresh and innovative, while also ensuring content is always on-brand and doesn’t alienate our superfans.
  • Lead content creation efforts to develop a consistent flow of quality creative to feed the organic and paid social media programs. This includes shooting and editing content yourself, and procuring it from internal and external resources.
  • Work closely with the Performance Marketing Manager to ensure creative serves their needs, and flagging when organic content shows significant promise so they can amplify with targeted spend.
  • Oversee influencer and affiliate marketing efforts to ensure campaigns drive ROI in terms of sales and brand awareness.
  • Track and analyze all relevant KPIs to measure success and inform strategy, providing regular updates. Note: the ability to create and adhere to an effective process to track and measure your efforts is mission-critical!

WAHT WE NEED:

  • 3-5 years of soup-to-nuts social media management experience from content planning, to production, posting and analysis. Personal brands count, so long as you demonstrate high growth, high engagement and high-quality content!
  • Proven experience creating and obtaining high-ROI social content for product brands. Bonus points if you’ve worked with party games or products with a humor element.
  • Solid editing skills. You and CapCut go way back, and hook testing is your love language.
  • A strategic approach to social content strategy that includes channel-specific, data-driven strategies that drive growth and engagement beyond superficial metrics. You go beyond the likes and could probably give a TED talk on what types of comments drive impact.
  • Thorough understanding of the mechanics of viral social media content and how to work with creators to get content likely to achieve that kind of performance.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills. For Example: You can manage people (direct reports/vendors and your individual responsibilities without break a sweat
  • You know your way around a content calendar, can lead a productive meeting to get the best out of your peers, and on the rare occasion you miss a deadline, your manager and colleagues know in advance.
  • Must be located in Los Angeles, CA or surrounding area
