Jan Stroobants

Jan Stroobants is a Senior Research Engineer at Flanders Make since November 2015, focusing on industry-driven research related to the conceptual design phase of (electro)mechanical products, cost estimation, and design space exploration for drivetrain design tools. Notably, Jan led the OptiMulti_icon project from 2018 to 2019, delivering a prototype tool for multi-material topology optimization while adhering to time and budget constraints. Prior to this role, Jan served as a Research Engineer at Flanders' DRIVE, specializing in durability research and CAE calculations, and has extensive experience as a certified test track driver. Jan began a professional career with a traineeship at LMS International, contributing to car pass-by noise research. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on aerospace from KU Leuven.
