Steve Durham is an experienced professional in biotechnology and pharmaceutical manufacturing, currently serving as Associate Director and Head of R&D Manufacturing Operations at FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies since July 2006. In this role, Steve leads a team of scientists in operating a biological cGMP manufacturing facility, ensuring R&D processes are suitable for manufacturing. Previously, Steve held roles as Senior Technical Project Leader, Downstream Process Operations Manager, and Technical Project Leader within the same company, managing project delivery and supporting innovation programs. Prior to joining FUJIFILM, Steve worked at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist focusing on mitochondrial genetics in age-related diseases. Steve holds a PhD in Mitochondrial Genetics of Ageing and Disease from Newcastle University and a BSc in Applied Biology with Honors in Biotechnology from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
