Facilities Maintenance Technician

You will perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs at all facilities; ensure that shop equipment and building systems operate efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Respond to employee requests for maintenance/repair as needed, inspect, and diagnose problems indoors and outdoors and determine options for correcting them.

• Involved with development of Facilities Preventative Maintenance Schedule

• Prioritize workload according to safety policies and production schedules

• Purchase supplies or parts as required (obtain proper approval)

• Assist cleaning crews with facility/grounds cleanliness as needed.

• Offsite maintenance as assigned.

• Other reasonably related duties

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to work without direct supervision

• Professional manner

• Active Florida Driver’s License

• Certified forklift and bucket lift operator

• Good oral communication skills

• Technical and mechanical aptitude

• Ability to use shop mathematics

• Ability to operate hand and power tools in accordance with general safety principles

• Basic reading and comprehension skills; ability to write legibly

• Ability to understand and follow instructions

• Detail and quality-results oriented

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Ability to use and read measuring instruments accurately in both U.S. Standard and Metric

• Awareness of general safety principles in a shop environment

• Reliable transportation to work

• Ability to complete tasks working with others and independently

• Work overtime as required

• Physical abilities: hearing, seeing, lifting, pushing, and pulling 35 pounds, crouching, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, walking, standing for long periods, reaching in all directions, balancing, manual dexterity, hand/eye coordination, climb ladder, lay on a mechanic’s creeper, and move about while performing tasks with tools, tolerate varying ranges of temperature in a shop environment.

Education and Experience:

• High School (GED) or Vocational School graduate

• Working knowledge of general maintenance and repairs including basic electricity,

• plumbing, air conditioning, landscaping, and pest control; 0-4 years relevant experience.
