We’re in an exciting time of accelerated but disciplined growth, our Finance team is looking for an experienced Finance Manager / Senior Accountant who can drive daily accounting operations and support the CFO as we continue to grow and build out the finance function for our business.

About you: The right candidate for this role is a qualified Accountant with experience working in a hands-on environment. You come from a professional services environment or a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) business and must be comfortable working on all aspects of accounting operations.

The role also requires engagement with the team across our business and as such you will require excellent communication skills and can motivate and influence others. You will have a service ethic and a quality focus applied in the way you operate and the work you produce.

What success looks like in this role: As LAB Finance Manager / Senior Accountant you are a pivotal member of the finance team and the wider LAB Group business.

Reporting to the CFO, your success relies on your ability to manage daily financial and book-keeping tasks, produce financial reporting and process transactions accurately and to deadline. You have a strong understanding of accounting for SaaS. You will work closely with all departments to provide timely operational financial support.

Your core focus:

• Manage all accounting operations including receivables, payables, billings, cost accounting and revenue recognition.
• Drive the efficient and accurate completion of the month-end billing process for clients – including subscription and usage analysis and reconciliations.
• Support the Sales & Account Management team to review and resolve customer billing queries.
• Ensure that Client invoice data matches with data in Salesforce (database software).
• Manage payment approval processes.
• Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, posting, and recording accounting data.
• Manage and deliver end-to-end monthly payroll process, including the processing of wages, payroll tax and superannuation.
• Complete month-end accounting activities, including preparation of General Ledger (GL), reconciliation and investigation of all GL reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Contribute to ensuring the business fulfils our statutory responsibilities, including the preparation of IAS, BAS, and other returns.
• Work in conjunction with the CFO and external consultants to process year-end returns and fulfil audit requirements.
• Collaborate with CFO to document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen financial compliance.
• Regularly review processes, and confidently share new initiatives.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Complete additional financial management duties as necessary.

What you bring:

• You have a degree in accounting or finance or a similar qualification;
• You will be a CA/CPA qualified accounting professional;
• You bring professional experience working in an Accountant role in a similar industry or high-growth company;
• You have strong interpersonal skills and are comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels;
• You are comfortable working across operational aspects - including supporting and improving processes;
• You have high attention to detail and are able to work with conflicting deadlines;
• You have strong to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ideally have been exposed to using Xero.
