Michael Stephens is an experienced professional in the field of conflict resolution and organizational ethics, currently serving as Contract Ombudsman at MWI since December 2022. Prior to this role, Michael held the position of Ombudsperson at Smith College from November 2016 to December 2022, where responsibilities included employee coaching, mediation, and training in communication and change management. Michael also served as Ombudsperson for Amherst College from September 2015 to August 2018, focusing on support for faculty and staff, and as Center Director at the Pioneer Valley Shambhala Meditation Center from March 2015 to February 2018. Earlier in the career, Michael was Senior Director of Global Ethics & Compliance at Merck from 1990 to May 2013, leading the internal Ombudsman function and global investigations, and held various roles in consulting and human resources. Michael holds an MBA in Management from NYU Stern School of Business and a BA in English from the University of Colorado Boulder.
